Pre-dawn Ride Ends In Charges

Deputies arrested a man in Golden Gate early Monday after they say they found him riding a bike that had just been stolen from inside a nearby house.

Manuel Morales, 29, who refused to list an address on his arrest report, was charged with occupied burglary and petty theft.

According to reports, a deputy approached Morales after seeing him on a small bicycle on the 4600 block of 18th Place SW shortly before 4 a.m. Reports said Morales was evasive and gave a false name and age. When the deputy asked for his address he would not give one, reports said.

As the deputy was speaking with Morales, two people approached them and said the bicycle Morales was riding had just been stolen from inside their house.

Morales was additionally charged with resisting arrest without violence for providing false information to the deputy.
