Suspicious Furniture Delivery Leads To Arrest

A large furniture truck that was traveling erratically through the streets of Immokalee with its back door open early Wednesday drew suspicions of a sheriff’s deputy out on patrol.

When the deputy asked the driver of the Blocker’s Furniture truck, Reymar Navarro, why he was out making a delivery at 1 a.m., Navarro said he was an employee at Blocker’s and was borrowing the truck to pick up his father, sheriff’s reports said.

Navarro also asked the deputy not to call Blocker’s because he would be fired, sheriff’s reports said.

Further investigation revealed Navarro was not employed by Blocker’s and that the truck had been stolen from the Blocker’s warehouse, 110 12th St., Immokalee, earlier in the night, sheriff’s reports said.

Inside the truck was a leather sleeper sofa, two refrigerators and a recliner with a combined value of $1,949, sheriff’s reports said.

Navarro, 34, 4600 Alhambra Circle, Naples, was arrested and charged with grand theft auto and grand theft. He was also charged with giving false information to a law enforcement office because he initially gave the deputy a false name, reports said.
