Two Fort Myers men were arrested following a Friday afternoon pursuit through North Naples that began at the site of a home burglary.
Renny Armstrong, 36, 4938 Gary Drive, and Jerrett Byrd, 19, 1906 Starnes Avenue, both were charged with burglary, grand theft and resisting arrest. Armstrong is additionally charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and driving while license suspended.
Reports give this account:
Matthew Colman arrived at his 6795 Hunters Road home shortly after noon and saw a car in his driveway and Armstrong and Byrd leaving the house through a broken window. They got into their car and drove away.
Deputies followed the car in a pursuit that traveled along I-75, Pine Ridge Road and Livingston Road. Eventually the vehicle crashed into a ditch near the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach and Livingston roads. The men fled on foot but were apprehended a short time later.
