A man was arrested on felony charges Monday after deputies say he struck his live-in girlfriend with a machete during an argument in Immokalee.
Marco Destine, 39, 459 8th St. S., Apt. A, Immokalee, was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
Arrest reports say Debora Faye Milton told deputies that she and Destine were arguing outside their trailer around 9:30 p.m. when Destine pulled out a machete and swung it at her. The machete struck her in both hands as she tried to defend herself, causing injury to her hands, reports said.
Milton said Destine chased her with the machete before throwing it toward another trailer, reports said. Milton and Destine fought over the machete and both received cuts, reports said.
Destine told deputies that they were arguing over relationship problems. He denied attacking Milton, saying she pulled out the machete and attempted to cut him with it, reports said.
