WHAT: Adopt- A Soldier Truck Loading
WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008
WHERE: Collier County Sheriff’s Office 3301 U.S. 41 E., the loading dock behind Building J.
TIME: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
SUMMARY: Join us as we place the last load of care packages onto a truck to be shipped to members of the military as part of CCSO’s Adopt-A-Soldier program.
We’ll be joined by Elisabeth Germann of North Naples, whose husband, U.S. Army Capt. Rick Germann, is serving his second tour of duty overseas, and the couple’s three young children. CCSO is shipping care packages to Capt. Germann’s entire unit.
CCSO will be shipping a total of 2,272 care packages. The final 800 packages will be loaded onto a truck on Sunday and then driven to the United Service Organizations in Jacksonville for distribution to soldiers around the world, including Capt. Germann's unit.
Earlier this month dozens of volunteers assembled care packages, which include toiletries, videos, books, snacks, and other items donated by local citizens and businesses. Each package includes a pillow and a letter from Sheriff Don Hunter.
CCSO would like to thank everyone who contributed to the program.
