Lt. Mark Milligan, left, displays his 2011 Distinguished Public Service Award for Law Enforcement after being presented the honor by Sheriff Kevin J. Rambosk, right, during the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce’s annual Distinguished Public Service awards banquet at the Naples Hilton on Wednesday.

The Distinguished Public Service Award is given annually to recognize and publicly thank emergency service personnel for their extraordinary efforts in keeping Collier County residents safe.

Sheriff Rambosk nominated Lt. Milligan for the award, saying he embodies the “Community, Safety, Service” values that make Collier County safe and desirable.

Lt. Milligan learned of his selection for the award in an informal surprise ceremony at CCSO in late September.

Lt. Milligan has been with CCSO since 1986, including the past nine years as commander of the Everglades substation.
