31 Sell Alcohol To Underage Customers During Compliance Operation

Eighty-eight out of 119 businesses visited Thursday night during an underage alcohol enforcement operation properly checked IDs and refused to sell alcohol to minors.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the Naples Police Department and the Marco Island Police Department. It was preceded by educational operations meant to help businesses and their employees become aware of their legal responsibilities when selling alcohol.

Convenience stores, bars and clubs were visited. These operations are conducted periodically to prevent alcohol from falling into the hands of those who are not yet 21 years old.

During Thursday’s operation 29 people were issued a notice to appear in court on charges of selling alcohol to a minor. Two additional store employees who did not have proper identification with them were arrested for selling alcohol to a minor.
