WHAT: Briefing on School Safety Training

SUMMARY: In partnership with the Florida Attorney General’s Office, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office is providing a regional school safety training opportunity for law enforcement. The course, scheduled for March 18-20, was developed to provide participants with the basic skills required to work in the school setting. Among the topics are student threat assessment, emergency management, lockdowns, evacuations and active shooter training.
The course was developed to address the growing demand for law enforcement officers in schools.
CCSO plans to host this training again in the future whenever there is a demand.
During the media opportunity, CCSO Patrol Captain Tim Guerrette and CCSO Youth Relations Bureau Captain Beth Jones will speak about the training and the agency’s partnership with the Attorney General’s Office.
