CCSO Investigating Homicide On Marco Island

A 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged with fatally stabbing her live-in boyfriend during an argument inside their condominium on Marco Island early Tuesday.

Lisa Troemner of Marco Island was being booked into the Collier County jail Tuesday morning on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 30-year-old Trevor Smith.

The Marco Island Police Department requested the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance in the investigation. CCSO and MIPD have a longstanding partnership and mutual aid agreement.

CCSO detectives gave this account:

Troemner walked into the 7-Eleven store at 600 Bald Eagle Drive on Marco  covered in blood shortly before 2 a.m. She told a clerk that she killed someone. Police quickly responded and met with Troemner, who directed them to the condominium she shared with Smith at 886 Park Ave. #501 in The Roman Plaza. Once inside the condo, officers found Smith deceased in the bedroom.

Detectives said Troemner and Smith had been arguing for several hours inside the condo. While they were in the bedroom, she armed herself with a knife and fatally stabbed Smith.

The joint investigation between CCSO and MIPD continues.

Information and Troemner’s jail booking photo will be released as they become available.
