Five Sell Alcohol To Underage Customers During Compliance Operation

67 out of 72 businesses visited Thursday, March 5 during an underage alcohol enforcement operation properly checked IDs and refused to sell alcohol to minors.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the Marco Island Police Department, the Naples Police Department and Drug Free Collier. It was preceded by educational operations meant to help businesses and their employees become aware of their legal responsibilities when selling alcohol.

Convenience stores, county liquor stores, drug stores, grocery stores and several restaurant-bar establishments were visited. These operations are conducted periodically to prevent alcohol from falling into the hands of those who are not yet 21 years old.

During the operation three store employees were issued a notice to appear in court on charges of selling alcohol to a minor. Two additional store employees received warnings.
