Deputies: Restaurant Robber Ate Meal First

A man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he ate a meal at a Mexican restaurant in Immokalee and then robbed the business.

Noel Puente, 27, 5113 Perch Place, Immokalee was charged with armed robbery and grand theft.
Reports gave this account:

Puente entered El Taquito, 212 E. New Market Road, shortly after 5 p.m. on Feb. 28. He ordered a meal, which he sat and ate in a corner booth.

When Puente finished eating, he went to the front register and asked the cashier for a bag. He then went around the counter and put his arm around her.

Puente held a knife to her side and said, “This is a robbery.”

The cashier replied, “You are kidding.” She then placed the contents of the register, approximately $600, inside a bag and gave it to Puente, who then ran out of the restaurant.

Witnesses identified Puente from a photo lineup and he was arrested at his residence.
