Deputies Arrest Robber Who Beat Man With Club

Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man who they say beat another man with a wooden club and then robbed him in Golden Gate over the weekend.

Jonathan Sterling Winsey, 19, 1603 40th Terrace S.W., Apt. A3, was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.

Reports say Emerrito Chavezavila, 38, told deputies he was walking along 16th Place Southwest around 1:30 p.m. Saturday when a man came up behind him and struck him with a wooden club on his back, neck and head.
The man shoved his hand inside Chavezavila’s back pocket and tried to grab his wallet.

Chavezavila ran away and the robber chased him a few feet.

Deputies located Winsey sitting in a driveway on 40th Terrace Southwest. Chavezavila identified Winsey as the man who attacked and robbed him.
