Two women were arrested after deputies say they broke into a North Naples home Sunday afternoon and beat the occupant.
Christina Gambino, 21, of 829 106th Ave. N., and Christy Grevengood, 21, of 781 95th Ave. N., are charged with burglary with a battery.
Deeann Cruz, 19, 858 93rd Ave. N., told deputies she saw Gambino, Grevengood and a third woman drive up to her house in a silver car shortly before 4 p.m. Knowing that Gambino was angry with her over a previous incident, Cruz ran into the house, locked the doors and hid in the bedroom, locking the door behind her.
Reports give this account of what happened next: Gambino forced her way into the house by breaking the handle on the rear sliding door. She then forced open the bedroom door and started pulling Cruz’s hair and punching her. Grevengood, who had driven the trio to the house, watched. The third suspect helped Gambino beat Cruz.
At that point a witness, Joshua Wedding, who lives at the same address but was in the yard at the time, heard the commotion and intervened, breaking up the fight. The three women left when they heard a call to 9-1-1 being made.
Deputies found Gambino and Grevengood later and arrested them. The third suspect, who Gambino and Grevengood have identified only as Katy, has not been located. The investigation is continuing.
