Car That Wouldn't Start Leads To Man's Arrest

A suspected thief whose car wouldn’t start right away as he tried to make his getaway from a North Naples Home Depot was arrested Wednesday after store employees got his license plate number and deputies tracked him down.

Jessie Marion III, 49, of Fort Myers was charged with grand theft of $300 to $5,000.

Reports say Marion and another man stole a cart full of merchandise while shopping at the Home Depot at 2251 Pine Ridge Road on Feb. 28.

Store employees attempted to stop the men as they walked past two open registers with the cart. They left the cart in the parking lot and got into a blue Toyota Camry.
The car didn’t immediately start, making it easy for employees to jot down the license plate number.

A computer search of state Department of Motor Vehicle records showed the Camry was registered to Marion’s wife.
