UPDATE: Barricaded Man In Custody


UPDATE: Rolando Quintana Jr. is being held without bond.
He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of a dwelling while armed, grand theft firearm and grand theft.

Collier County sheriff's deputies responded to an East Naples home Friday morning when firearms where reported stolen.

The burglary occurred at 264 Rose Apple Lane around 7:30 a.m. Friday. The burglary victim old deputies that the suspect, Rolando Quintana Jr., 22, lived nearby at 267 Rose Apple Lane.

Also around 7:30 a.m Friday, a man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound came into the emergency room at Physicians Regional Hospital.

The gunshot victim was the father of Rolando Quintana Jr., investigators later learned. He had been shot during an argument with his son, investigators say.

Deputies attempted to talk to Quintana, but he would not speak to them and refused to come out of the house.

Quintana's girlfriend was also inside the house. Because there were believed to be stolen weapons inside the house, the SWAT team was called in.

Along with deputies from road patrol, investigations and the hostage negotiation team, the bomb squads from the Collier County and Lee County sheriff's offices responded.

After more than eight hours of trying to talk to Quintana who had barricaded himself inside the house, the Sheriff's Office used an explosive device to blow open the front door.

Then a robot armed with a camera was used to view the inside of the home.

Soon after the robot rolled in, Quintana surrendered peacefully to deputies and was transported to Naples Community Hospital for evaluation.

Quintana's girlfriend was transported to Physicians Regional Hospital.

Quintana is being charged with domestic violence and aggravated battery in connection with shooting his father.

Charges against Quintana in connection with the firearms theft are also expected to be filed.
