Plagiarism Isn't Always A Bad Thing

Barry Gerenstein admitted to being a plagiarist.

But Sheriff Kevin J. Rambosk was happy to hear it.

Gerenstein explained to fellow East Naples residents Wednesday evening that he regularly visits colliersheriff.org and copies news and information he finds there into his community’s newsletter.

“This is something every community can do,” said Gerenstein, president of the Neighborhood Watch program at Verona Walk. “There’s a wealth of information on that Web site. I just plagiarize it.”

Gerenstein’s comments were among many ideas he and others shared as Sheriff Rambosk hosted the fourth in a series of six community meetings around the county. This meeting took place at the Professional Development Center, 615 Third Ave. S.

East Naples residents shared their thoughts on everything from aggressive driving to programs directed at youths.

The next community meeting is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Everglades Community Church meeting hall, 101 S. Copeland Ave., Everglades City.
